What You Need To Know:
This version of HALLOWEEN is incredibly nasty. The foul language, violence, sex, and nudity are ratcheted up to the nth degree. Not only does this movie offend moral sensibilities, it also offends aesthetic ones. The remake has little or none of the pulse-pounding suspense of the original, which relied more on implied terror than in-your-face mayhem.

(RoRoRo, H, C, LLL, VVV, SS, NNN, MM) Very strong Romantic worldview strongly suggests throughout that man is corrupted by his environment not his sinful nature, though psychiatrist suggests in one comment that people are affected by both internal and external forces, plus, an apparently Christian Latino guard is kind to a patient and prays in Spanish about the Holy Spirit in a time of immense stress and there is some metaphorical redemptive talk about evil being an absence of light and white, the symbol of purity, containing all the colors in the physical world; about 106 mostly strong obscenities, 17 strong profanities, 10 light profanities, and crude sexual talk and insults; very extreme bloody violence includes murder, stabbings, beatings, throat slittings, a drowning, strangling, and bodies lying in pools of blood; strong sexual content includes depicted fornication by high-school age children, partially nude mother works at a strip club, and crude sexual talk and insults; many scenes of upper female nudity, some rear female nudity, partial full female nudity, and upper male nudity; alcohol use; smoking; and, talk about the boogeyman, extremely dysfunctional working class family is very abusive toward one another, and teenagers sneak around their parents to fornicate.

This remake of John Carpenter’s HALLOWEEN not only is abhorrent and tasteless, but also inept, thoughtless and boring.
The remake changes the story of the uncontrollable deranged killer Michael Myers. Instead of coming from a middle-class family, he is the troubled son of a bickering, foul-mouthed couple of lowlifes in Haddonfield, Illinois. His mother is nice to 10-year-old Michael but she is a stripper, and his no-account stepfather constantly berates him obscenely, as does his sister. Michael only finds solace relating to his young baby sister. On Halloween day, Michael beats a bully to death in the woods. That night, while mom is at the strip club, Michael slices his sleeping stepfather’s throat, beats his older sister’s boyfriend to death with a baseball bat, and stabs his sister to death.
The state convicts young Michael of murder. The court sentences him to a mental facility, where a middle-aged psychologist, Dr. Loomis, tries to find a way to cure him. Michael stabs a nurse to death, however, and his mother commits suicide.
Fifteen years later, an overgrown, hulking and silent Michael brutally escapes the facility. Dr. Loomis figures out that Michael intends to return to his hometown to continue his bloody rampage.
