OSAMA uses real-life people as actors to tell its tragic tale of Islamic oppression. The amateur actors are phenomenally realistic, but the movie is shot on a very low budget with a slow-moving script. Although OSAMA makes it clear that the Taliban are evil religious extremists, the movie contains some positive references to God and no Islamic indoctrination. It does have some violence and a scene where an elderly Muslim marries an underage pubescent girl and takes her to his marriage bed, which is not shown. Therefore, MOVIEGUIDE® recommends the movie only for mature audiences who’d like to know more about the Afghan people’s suffering under the tyrannical Taliban.

OSAMA is Afghanistan’s entry into this year’s Academy Awards. It is the first movie shot in Afghanistan since the fall of the Taliban in 2002.
OSAMA is not about the infamous Al Qaeda terrorist. Instead, it tells the story of a 12-year-old girl who, when the Taliban extremists take power, disguises herself as a boy, Osama, so she can escort her widowed mother looking for work. A local grocer agrees to let her work for him so her family can make ends meet. When the Taliban order all the boys to a religious school that doubles for military training, the girl is forced to constantly defend her masculinity. Eventually, she is caught and more tragedy ensues.

There is, however, some violence and one scene which implies that an elderly man takes an underage pubescent girl as one of his wives and to his marriage bed, but nothing explicit is shown. Therefore, MOVIEGUIDE® recommends the movie only for mature audiences who’d like to know more about the Afghan people’s suffering under the tyrannical Taliban.
Clearly, the implementation of Islamic laws is a very evil thing. That’s why western countries should be very careful about allowing Muslims free reign within their borders. Jesus Christ’s moral truth transcends all cultures. Islamic law is a legalistic, anti-biblical, Satanic nightmare that’s a hundred times worse than the Pharisees and Saducees who tried to force the Apostle Peter to give up the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which frees all men from legalistic tyrannies like the Taliban (see the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Galatians in the New Testament).
