More Detail:

Following in the tradition of DUCK TALES, Disney offers another movie based on one of its animated television series, GOOF TROOP. Max, PJ, Pete, and Goofy are all there, plus a few new characters in A GOOFY MOVIE. Numerous cameo appearances are featured, including Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, plus a special guest appearance by Elvis. As is the case with Disney’s other full length animated features, A GOOFY MOVIE has enough songs to be considered a musical. While billed as a children’s movie, children in the audience appeared not to find it very funny and seemed to laugh simply because their parents did. In this movie, Max and PJ are older than their television series counterparts, so this feature may be over the heads of younger children.

A GOOFY MOVIE is a fine example of how not to be a parent. In the two father-son relationships, both fathers fail to communicate with their sons. PJ is in fear of his dad, and Goofy displays a bad example for his son, sneaking him into a rock concert and helping him continue a lie to impress his girlfriend. In the end, Max admits his lie, and the audience is treated to a typical Walt Disney happy ending. However, the lies and deception are never fully addressed, and the advantages gained by them are viewed as successes.
