More Detail:
A HOLIDAY HOMECOMING is a Christmas drama streaming on Pure Flix about how the town of Hope, NY, must band together as a community to help care for the foster children of St. Jerome’s after the building burns down. A HOLIDAY HOMECOMING is a joyful, pro-family movie full of faith, about a man who learns that loving others is more important than his comfort.
The movie opens with Jesse and his girlfriend, Maggie, attending their local parish in the heart of Hope, NY. That Sunday morning the pastor announces to his congregation that St. Jerome’s Home for Children has tragically burned down, displacing all the foster children. The pastor encourages his congregation to show the children the love of Christ by inviting them to stay in their personal homes.
While many are excited for the opportunity to serve the children, including Maggie, Jesse is apprehensive about taking in children. Despite living with his father in a large house, Jesse says is an only child and isn’t used to living with other children. Maggie encourages Jesse to think about it but drops the topic for the time being.
However, when Jesse arrives home and greets his father, he’s surprised to learn that Abigail, and her younger brother, David, have already moved into the house. Jesse shows his displeasure, but after a conversation with his father, he sees he’s in the wrong and offers apologies for his attitude to both Abigail and David.
Despite diving into completely new territory, Jesse decides to treat Abigail and David like his own siblings. Maggie is excited at Jesse’s turnaround on the idea, and the couple learns that many of their friends have also taken in foster children over the holiday season.
Jesse wants to care for Abigail and David, but everything it takes to care for children catches him off guard. His father notices his desire and gives him a forced vacation to be able to get to know Abigail and David.
Abigail continues to struggle to feel loved and overhears Jesse and his father talking. She thinks they are talking about her, and they want her to leave, but her brother to stay. Abigail devises a plan to leave the house, and David agrees to run away with her. Jesse finds their beds empty, and people begin searching all over Hope for Abigail and David. Jesse prays to God that they will not only find Abigail and David, but that they will know that he and his father love them.
