A KID IN KING ARTHUR’S COURT starts with the face of Merlin the Magician looking up from a well and exclaiming that he needs to find a hero to save Camelot. It seems that King Arthur has fallen under the influence of Lord Belasco. Falling back through time, courtesy of Merlin’ spell, Calvin Fuller lands on the Black Knight who has just stolen the king’s treasure box. Calvin returns the box and King Arthur rewards Calvin by inviting him to stay at the Castle. Lord Belasco is not pleased and tries to destroy this threat to his hold on Arthur. Meanwhile, the king’s youngest daughter Catherine proceeds to show Calvin around Camelot. Belasco wants to inherit the kingdom by marrying the King’s older daughter Sarah, who is in love with the Sergeant of Arms. Frustrated, Belasco resorts to kidnapping Catherine and blaming Calvin. Together, Calvin and King Arthur save the day.
A KID IN KING ARTHUR’S COURT has a happy ending which will appeal to young children. The special effects are noticeably cheap, and the direction leaves much to be desired. The casting is weak and looks totally out of place. All in all, this in an innocuous little romp which has good moral values marred by the magic of Merlin and several exclamatory appeals to God.
