More Detail:
Capturing the look and wacky spirit of “Rocky and Bullwinkle” cartoons, BORIS AND NATASHA finds our bumbling spies in a race against time to find a missing microchip. The story begins in Pottsylvania, where Boris and Natasha receive a special assignment from Fearless Leader: to defect to America and find missing professors as well as their latest invention: a microchip that reverses time for 5.3 seconds, rendering any object indestructible. Searching for the microchip, Boris and Natasha encounter treacherous double agents, ruthless killers, exploding potatoes, and a mysterious man with terrible taste in shoes.
The movie is hilariously ludicrous, reviving the style of NAKED GUN and AIRPLANE, minus the toilet humor and innuendo. It is also fairly wholesome except one scene in which Boris drowns his sorrows in a Martini after a spat with Natasha and watches a go-go dancer kick up her legs. Occasionally, the narrator’s corny puns are annoying, but to his credit, he helps us follow the storyline. One almost forgets such intrusions made “Rocky and Bullwinkle” famous. Hopefully, video watchers will keep this in mind when watching BORIS AND NATASHA. Its nonsensical ending is enough to make you say “Jeepers!” but it fits.
