HOMELESS FOR THE HOLIDAYS has its heart in the right place. Matt Moore as Jack gives a good performance. The script is good, and the production values are in keeping with a small budget. Jack and his family are believers, and they attend church, where they hear and learn about giving and sharing with others. At church, Jack looks at the nativity scene and says that God gave His only son. HOMELESS FOR THE HOLIDAYS is a timely production that speaks to the needs of many people today facing financial troubles. The movie encourages people to give, even if you lose your job and your house.

HOMELESS FOR THE HOLIDAYS is the story of Jack, a high powered, fast track executive who is unexpectedly fired to cover up a mistake of his company. Jack is promised by his boss that he will hire him back shortly, though he never does. Jack has not put his family first, so, when he’s laid off, he suddenly realizes what’s important.
Jack can only find a job at a fast food restaurant and learns what it’s like to be treated badly. As his family’s finances get worse, they continue to struggle. They discover that trying to get financial assistance from the government proves fruitless and that the government isn’t able to help.
They finally come to grips with the fact that their situation is what they simply must embrace. With no money, the family ends up sitting around their fireplace singing Christmas carols and talking. The children are excited about the family togetherness even though there are no presents for Christmas.
As the family suffers, they learn to give to others who are even less fortunate than they are. They give their last few dollars to a homeless man instead of a dinner for themselves.
The ultimate does happen. They are forced to foreclose and move out of their house. They stay at their church building and then in a tent. Finally, Jack gets a job and their season of financial struggle is over, but in the process they have learned about generosity and giving.
A character, who can only be an angel, keeps appearing to Jack, encouraging him to be generous. The movie ultimately reveals that he has been the narrator.
