More Detail:
IN THE HEAT OF PASSION begins at a gas station, where part-time mechanic and struggling actor Charlie Bronson fixes female psychologist Lee Adam’s Mercedes Benz. Intrigued by Lee’s suggestive talk and dress, Charlie poses as a TV cable repairmen to get into her house. While her husband watches TV, the two rip off their clothes. What follows is an illicit affair, as Charlie sneaks around to fornicate with her in strange places. Lee’s husband catches on and is shot in the head. Charlie tries to set things up as if the murder was committed by the “Montclair Hills Rapist” he portrays (as an actor) on TV’s “Crime Busters.” However, he ultimately becomes implicated in the wrongdoing.
Overall, IN THE HEAT OF PASSION combines pornographic exploits with a poorly-written script and a message that crime pays. In the end, Charlie dies, guilty of foul play, and the actual rapist is off the hook. In reality, dishonesty, corruption and fraud have no rewards. Adding to the movie’s wrongful message is phony and pretentious dialogue. Equally silly is the filmmaker’s attempt to pan this ludicrous fable as “entertainment” to the moviegoing public.
