What You Need To Know:
JUWANNA MANN is the story of a “bad boy” professional basketball player, Jamal Jeffries, who is suspended indefinitely from the league for flashing the fans after he is ejected from a critical game. In order to replace his earnings, he disguises himself in drag to enter the Women’s Basketball League as Juwanna Mann. As Juwanna, he becomes the team’s star player and receives the valuable endorsement offers and media attention that had previously eluded him due to his gangster image. The movie follows Juwanna’s awkward relationships in and out of the locker room with his new female teammates, adoring fans and his soul-for-hire sports agent, played by Kevin Pollack. The movie shows his transformation from diva to team leader.
Miguel A. Nuñez, Jr. as Jamal and his co-star, Vivica A. Fox, bring some charm and energy to their roles. Tommy Davidson brings one or two laughs in his role as rapper Puff Smoky Smoke, but overall JUWANNA MANN is predictable, poorly written and a big bore. To add insult to injury, this movie is extremely vulgar, full of poor taste and embarrassingly unfunny. Also, lying, deception and greed are central to the plot
