When a police officer Brad KUFFS is gunned down in a church, his brother, George, sets out to avenge his death. As if FERRIS BUELLER was moonlighting as a BEVERLY HILLS COP, George pauses from his sleuthing to chat with the audience. The action begins in a cathedral, as officer Brad swallows a communion wafer. Suddenly, a gunman opens fire on Brad. At the police station, George identifies the killer in a lineup. Although the man was leaving the church at the time of the murder, it is his-word-against-George’s. George inherits Brad’s district. Becoming a cop is not what George wanted, but he accepts it to avenge his brother. What follows is car chases, fist fights, shooting rampages, and destruction of property.
Aimed at teens, KUFFS may be the most violent film under a PG-13 rating. To make the story cute and appealing to teens, George also befriends an inept St. Bernard. When criminals gag and bound George (forcing him to mumble to the audience, translated by subtitles), the dog sits there and wags his tongue. KUFFS tries to be cool and entertaining, but George comes off as a rebellious jerk who thinks the world revolves around him.
