MEATBALLS 4 is soft-porn pix aimed at 10 to 13-year-olds. The story deals with bikini-topped girls and sex-craved guys attending Lakeside Water Ski Camp. Amidst heavy partying and debauchery, the camp’s founder, Neil Peterson, faces bankruptcy. To overcome his financial troubles, Lakeside schedules a water ski match against their rival, Twin Oaks. The stakes are high: if Lakeside wins, Twin Oaks must pay off their mortgage; if they lose, Lakeside’s 19-year-old resident director, Ricky Wade, must work for Twin Oaks at minimum wage for the next five years.
This juvenile plot serves as a backdrop for endless scenes of girls removing their clothes. The guys look on (through peep holes, if they have to) and become aroused. While indulging in carnality, MEATBALLS 4 neglects possible consequences or side effects that accompany promiscuity: sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, guilt, or even a marred conscience. Instead, the movie insists that sexual activity is a part of personhood. To “miss out” is to be an incomplete person. Of course, God created us to be sexual beings made in his image. But, to pursue sexual relationships outside of marriage is to sin against God and our bodies (1 Corinthians 6:18).
