More Detail:
Real-life police detective Frank Swaringen felt called to do something about missing children, especially after putting their abductors behind bars. Therefore, he joins with Child Quest International to produce an excellent video entitled MILK CARTONS: THE WAY BACK HOME. This video will help prevent child abduction and help children stay safe.
Starring TV regulars Erin Gray, Bryton McClure and Taran Noah Smith, the video tells about 12-year-old Kevin, a young boy who thinks he will never be the victim of a stranger abduction. However, he does wonder about the children he sees on the back of milk cartons.
One day in class, a police officer comes to tell the children how to protect themselves from stranger kidnapping. He is told that every forty seconds a child is reported missing in the United States. Last year, according to the officer, there were 150,000 attempted abductions. 4,600 children were actually abducted. 150 were ultimately murdered in these non-family abductions. Of course, another 354,000 children were abducted by a family member, another topic entirely. All of this puts Kevin to sleep.
In his dream, he finds himself in milk carton world. There he finds out about the children who have been abducted and how to prevent abduction. When he wakes up, he is a changed boy. MILK CARTONS is very well made. When my children saw it, they were totally moved and understood the simple rules which could help them protect themselves. This is one of the few videotapes aimed at children that actually does what it is intended to do: help them stay safe. MOVIEGUIDE recommends it highly.
