(S, O) Brief clips of rock videos and advertising with sexual/occultic themes
More Detail:
POWER SURGE: ROCK N’ ROLL and POWER SURGE: SEX are two volumes in a four-part video series for teenagers. Each tape is 15-minutes long and includes a small curriculum with a meeting outline, discussion questions and Scripture verses. POWER SURGE: ROCK N’ ROLL hits the hardest when it makes a comparison between pop songs and commercial advertising. Just as advertising attracts people to to certain products, rock songs are often commercials for drugs, sex and the occult. POWER SURGE: SEX begins with a mistaken assumption that God created sex primarily for “fun”. There is no scriptural support for this statement; however, the second reason, sex produces the blessing of children, is easily supported with Psalm 127:3-5; 128:3 and Isaiah 8:18. The argument that sex is mainly for pleasure is the cornerstone of the world’s philosophy os sex–the wrong place to start when teaching teenagers moral standards.@@@Both POWER SURGE videos are cluttered with cliche-ridden snippets of teen interviews and a grainy, apparently-staged, party film. POWER SURGE is long on flash but short on content and biblical authority. An unabashedly scripture centered focus would give these videos the power they lack.
