What You Need To Know:
Corbin Bernsen has become a major television star with PSYCH and L.A. LAW. He brings his considerable talent to RUST. RUST is an extremely well written, acted and directed detective drama. The outcome is surprising. RUST works on an overt dialogue level as it discusses Christian faith, and it works on an allegorical incarnational level as it shows someone willing to give up their life to save even those that mock him. RUST is a highly recommended movie and well worth watching.

REVIEW: Corbin Bernsen has become a major television star with PSYCH and L.A. LAW. He brings his considerable talent to the movie RUST, which he wrote, directed and stars.
RUST opens with Corbin as a priest standing before a statue with Jesus and asking Jesus why He is so far away from him and why Jesus doesn’t speak to him any more. Father James leaves his collar on the pew and travels back to his childhood Midwestern home. There, he discovers that his childhood friend, the town fool, Travis, has been incarcerated for burning down a farm and, as a result, killing the family living there.
James doesn’t believe Travis did it. The town wants this horrible incident behind them so they want to believe that Travis did it. James’s father is fed up that James never finishes anything he starts, including his call to the priesthood. His sister is a single mom whose husband walked out on her.
Travis claims he burned down the farm, but his story doesn’t make sense. The teenagers in the town seem sullen and morose. James steps up the pace of his investigation when one of the teenagers commits suicide. Eventually, through the search for the truth, the truth of Jesus Christ becomes clear to even the most lost in the town.
