In SPLIT SECOND, it is 2008 A.D., and melting ice caps put much of London under water, while pollution turns day into a continual dusk. Harley Stone, a cop who lost his partner to a psychotic killer several years ago, becomes the focus of a renewed killing spree when he stumbles upon a woman whose heart was torn out. On the wall, are the words: “I’m back.” Stone realizes that the killer who murdered his partner is back to get him. With the help of Dirkson, Stone attempts to locate the psycho. After some more murders, the pattern suggests that the killer will kill its final victim at the same location that Stone lost his first partner. Blasting it from all sides with explosives and high voltage electrical shock, they kill the monster.
The movie leaves much to be desired. Several times Dirkson states that “I think it is Satan,” but Satan can’t be killed with shotguns. Furthermore, the gore and graphic violence are nauseating, and the obscene language is constant. Mix those with such uncertainty as to who the antagonist is, either Satan, a creature or a very ugly human being, and it shouldn’t take you but a SPLIT SECOND to decide whether or not to see this movie.
