Timothy “Speed” Levitch, the subject of the documentary THE CRUISE, is transparent, passionate, intelligent, and desirous of healing and acceptance. Levitch seeks for himself and others, a love of life and beauty, while battling personal angst and bitterness. His pulpit is a double-decker bus. His congregation is New York City tourists hoping to learn something about the big city. Along the tour, he includes references to many famous authors. Each tour he leads is another chance for him to broadcast his love for the city.

In this movie with no narration other than Levitch’s own words, the audience discovers that this complex man has many emotional problems including fear of failure, fear of rejection from his grandparents, anger toward his mother, and anger toward females. He is a very lonely man who wants significance, identity and purpose. Shot in black and white, THE CRUISE is an original interpretation of New York City and an intimate portrait of an unlikely hero who knows the goal but not the means to achieve it. Levitch seeks fulfillment, but knows not the God, or at least chooses not to recognize the God, who can give it to him.
