UNDER SIEGE 2: DARK TERRITORY

UNDER SIEGE 2: DARK TERRITORY revisits former Navy commando, anti-terrorist expert and cook Casey Ryback (Steven Seagal) as he takes a train trip with his teenage niece, Sarah, after her parents have been killed in a plane crash.

Ryback, now a civilian chef instead of a Navy chef since his single-handed rescue of a nuclear battleship in UNDER SIEGE, is once again an unsuspecting passenger when the train is hijacked. The bad guys not only hijack the train, they also take control of a surveillance satellite programmed for destruction. The satellite designer, Travis Dane, a genius/madman who faked his own death, has teamed with a mercenary named Penn to extort a billion dollars from the U.S. government. Before you can say “carbon copy,” Ryback does what he does best: systematically eliminates a score of bad guys.

Technically, the film is adequate. There are some gorgeous shots of Colorado scenery, but they are rarely seen without a dead or soon-to-be dead body marring the view. The stunts are typical Seagal, showcasing his martial arts talents and menacing good looks.

To say the excessive language and violence are gratuitous is a given. The acting is mediocre; the action non-stop. This movie presents just another mindless unredeeming violent barrage.
