Overview:
The First Academy Award Winner, the silent film WINGS, is a great picture dealing with the timeless theme of war turning boys into men. Although it is primarily an action picture, the film deals in a moving way with the value of friendship and the futility of revenge. Kevin Brownlow writes in THE PARADE’S GONE BY, “WINGS is one of the most excitingly direct war pictures of any period. Spectaculars have frequently attempted the same subject, but WINGS, staged on an awesome scale, remains supreme.”
