The worldview in STRANGER THINGS shifts to a strong moral one as a battle begins against an evil entity trying to attack innocent people, the boys search relentlessly for their friend, the mother is refusing to stop at anything to try to find her missing son, the viewer sees the conviction and guilt on the characters for wrongdoing as well as some consequences, plus some light occult elements concerning the girl with special powers;

Foul Language:

Two obscenities, one strong profanity and one light profanity;

Violence:

Strong violence, such as girl is pulled into a pool violently by an unknown power, bullies pick on a boy and shove him to the ground, boy’s chin begins to bleed, girl kills two men by snapping their necks with her mind, and girl uses mind powers and her nose begins to bleed;

Sex:

Implied fornication as two teenagers kiss in bed, and the camera goes elsewhere, teenagers joke about oral sex, and there are jokes surrounding the previously mentioned sex scene where teenagers make sexual noises and gestures to make fun of them;

Upper male nudity and female teenager wears a bra during bedroom scene;

More Detail:

After the house party in the second episode, Nancy returns home, but the next day, her friend Barb is nowhere to be found. The search for Will continues, and his mother has reason to believe he’s trying to communicate with her via electricity and lights. She buys a plethora of Christmas lights and hangs them everywhere in her house to further her knowledge of his whereabouts. However, when she tries to explain this to anyone, no one believes her and dismisses it as a mental flaw. The little girl with telekinetic powers, Eleven, tries to help the boys find Will, but has a difficult time communicating exactly where he is. Right when they think they’re beginning to make headway locating him, the police find the body of a young boy in a quarry nearby.

Titled “Holly, Jolly,” Chapter Three of STRANGER THINGS is an emotional and jarring episode with a twist ending that will certainly have viewers wanting more. The plot grows bigger in this episode too. There’s brief foul language, some violence and a scene of two teenagers having sexual relations in bed, the camera cuts away before it gets to graphic. Later in the episode, there are some jokes and discussion about teenage sex. This episode may be the most unfortunate episode in the entire season because of the teenage sex scene. Many viewers should be prepared to fast-forward this very unnecessary scene, so extreme caution is advised.
