What You Need To Know:
THAT TIME I GOT REINCARNATED AS A SLIME: SCARLET BOND is unwatchable if you aren’t acquainted with the previous source material. Characters come from an already established world. So, without that context, SCARLET BOND is confusing. The movie has some well-animated action sequences and light moral, redemptive elements extolling sacrifice and kindness. However, SCARLET BOND is marred by extreme bloody violence and a strong false, occult worldview with “good” and “evil” demons and creatures exercising magic for their own benefit.

More Detail:
THAT TIME I GOT REINCARNATED AS A SLIME: SCARLET BOND is an animated action adventure from Japan based in the same fantasy world of a Japanese comic book and TV series.
The movie is set in a fantasy world where supernatural creatures and monsters such as Demons, Elementals and Slime creatures can take human form and wield magical powers. The story starts off with a mysterious warrior ambushing a group of horned ogres and killing them all. The leader of the ogres wakes up to find he’s been revived by Towa, the human Queen of Raja, a small kingdom in the universe they call the Central World. The Queen gives him a name, Hiiro.
Hiiro is filled with rage at the attacker of his company. He returns to the forest where the massacre took place. There, he’s surprised to find his brother, sister and some of his old friends from where he grew up. Hiiro fills them in on how the Queen saved his life. He now feels indebted to Towa for her kindness.
When Hiiro and his new companions return to Raja, they discover the Queen is severely ill. They receive the help of Rimura, a man from the real world who was reincarnated as a shape-shifting slime creature and has evolved into a “Demon Lord” where he now rules a country of supernatural and other monsters. Rimura has the girly appearance of an androgynous teenager. He and Hiiro agree to work together and find out what’s threatening Queen Towa’s life.
SCARLET BOND is unwatchable if you haven’t read or seen the previous source material. Characters come from an already established world, so, without that context, SCARLET BOND will be confusing to regular moviegoers. The movie has some well-animated action sequences, but they’re marred by excessive violence and a strong occult worldview with “good” and evil supernatural monsters who manipulate dark magic. Though Hiiro is redeemed ,and there’s an overarching theme of giving one’s life to save the ones we love, the occult, demonic magic in THAT TIME I GOT REINCARNATED AS A SLIME overpowers these positive elements.
