(BB, O, V, M) Strong moral worldview with a sense of good taking a stand against evil, with some occult elements where characters have to say a spell in order to enter a town, and a spell is cast over the town which “protects” it; no foul language; light violence throughout, characters fight with swords, some physical blows; no sexual content; no nudity; no alcohol use; no smoking or drugs; and, light miscellaneous immorality where a character steals money from the town treasure but quickly learns his lesson.

In “Hidden,” the pilot episode for THE ADVENTURES OF PUSS IN BOOTS, Puss protects a young cat named Dulcinea from thugs trying to steal her money. Dulcinea lives in the secretive city of San Lorenzo, home to a great treasure. When she gives Puss a tour of the city, he steals a coin. Not knowing what Puss did, Dulcinea explains that if anything is stolen from the treasure, the spell protecting the town will be broken exposing the city to the world. Sure enough, thieves and bandits come to take the treasure, and Puss fight to protect the town from his wrongdoing.
“Hidden” is the first episode in the new Netflix series based on the beloved character from the Shrek series, Puss in Boots. The plot is clear and comprehensible. Unfortunately, the animation is cheesy and unrealistic. Also, most of the characters are shallow. More realism and artistic attention should have been used when choosing to create a story about an already beloved character, children’s show or not. That said, “Hidden” has a strong moral worldview about fighting against evil.
