More Detail:
THE LOVE ADVISOR is a romantic comedy on UPtv about a greatly underappreciated assistant who writes and produces a popular podcast on love and relationship advice for her selfish and shallow boss. She patiently puts up with the egregious behavior of her boss because she dreams of the day when she will receive her due credit for her work. When her favorite journalist comes to town to write a story on the podcast, it may give her the encouragement she needs to stand up for herself. THE LOVE ADVISOR is an endearing retelling of the Cinderella story. The quality is sometimes uneven, but the story and chemistry between the two leads make up for that. THE LOVE ADVISOR also promotes honesty, authenticity and depth of character. The content is geared toward the adult subject of finding true love in romance, but the movie has no objectionable content. So, THE LOVE ADVISOR is suitable for most audiences.
Abby uses her gifts as she creates content and produces a wildly popular podcast on love and romance. Her boss, Serena, a friend since college, takes all the credit, however. Also, Serena doesn’t seem to know the first thing about love, or relationships. She is highly demanding, bossy and rude to Abby. Abby’s work is not only unappreciated and undervalued, but Serena also takes credit for the success Abby’s work brings.
Abby’s sister, Brynn, implores Abby to leave this toxic work situation. Abby claims her boss will make her a partner once they win a coveted podcast award.
Jack is a top journalist from New York City. He travels to Miami to interview Serena about her podcast. Upon Jack’s arrival, a spa facial goes terribly wrong for Serena. Not wanting Jack to see her blistered face, she sends Abby to cover for her until they can reschedule.
Abby fills Jack in on the details of the show, though she doesn’t reveal that she’s the brains behind the success. At first Jack is a staunch skeptic and is cynical about love in general. However, Jack and Abby enjoy their time together, and romance begins to blossom. Abby wins Jack over to what he believes is Serena’s way of thinking. He’s very impressed with the depth of understanding and the tenderness to which the subject of love is handled on the podcast.
Jack finally meets Serena, and is taken aback by her crass, pushy manner. Something doesn’t add up. He begins to suspect Serena is not who she says she is. Meanwhile, Abby is hopeful she will be given credit for her work, but will she?
