More Detail:
THE STORY OF LOVE is a romance movie airing on UPtv.
The movie opens with Ruby Easton, an accountant and aspiring romance novelist, hosting a book club for her mother and her mother’s friends. Out of kindness, Ruby’s mother submitted her book to a romance writers retreat in Tahoe. According to her mother, it’s “the opportunity of a lifetime” and her mother will be in Tahoe at the same time on her annual trip. However, the deadline is soon, so Ruby must make a choice quickly.
Meanwhile in Tahoe, Woody, the hotel owner and manager, is indignant about having to host the writer’s retreat at the lodge. He’s more of an outdoorsman and the idea of hosting romance novelists is a lot, especially considering he’s recently been through a breakup.
Reluctantly, Ruby decides to attend the retreat, hoping to get a chance to learn from Marcus Harlow, a bigtime name in the publishing industry. Upon Ruby’s arrival with her mother, she’s focused on her next big writing proposal to impress Marcus. However, Marcus gets called away to Los Angeles on business, and Woody is left to entertain the romance writers.
Did somebody say camping and hiking? Now, Ruby will have to leave her work alone and disconnect.
During this time, Woody helps Ruby see the value of the outdoors. Meanwhile, Ruby teaches Woody the value of a good story.
Back in L.A., Marcus uses Ruby’s story to pitch a movie. When Marcus returns to Tahoe to be back with the writers, he and Ruby schedule a meeting to talk to a big studio.
Will their meeting bring Ruby the success she desires?
THE STORY OF LOVE is full of wanderlust in the script and beautiful scenic shots. Ruby’s mother adds great comical relief to the story. As far as entertainment value goes, THE STORY OF LOVE is a fine TV movie with some entertaining, comical conflicts and decent acting, but, overall, it’s nothing extraordinary.
