More Detail:

In “Brothers,” Jack takes Kevin and Randall camping, trying to bolster their floundering relationship with one another. While they’re away, the nursing home where Jack’s father resides calls to inform the family he’s dying. Rebecca goes to the nursing home and tells Jack’s dad that while he was a poor example for his son, Jack has become an excellent father and husband. Meanwhile, grown up Randall has a bonding experience with Deja, but Kevin gets drunk at Sophie’s charity event. As a result, Kevin misses an important audition while on the phone trying to get his doctor to prescribe him more pain medication. Kate and Toby start sharing with people that she’s pregnant. Finally, it’s revealed that Jack had a younger brother.

“Brothers” powerfully depicts the bond that family members have with one another, despite battling dysfunction and conflict. While Randall and Kevin’s tenuous relationship as boys continues to lead to competition in adulthood, they genuinely care for and admire one another. Though Jack’s father was abusive, Jack strives to be a good brother and father. Along with its positive aspects, this episode discreetly addresses substance abuse and child abuse. It also contains some light profanities. So, caution is advised for the “Brothers” episode of THIS IS US.
